Security Engineer
Company
NestAI is Europe’s fastest-growing physical AI lab. We build open, sovereign, and reliable autonomous systems and AI-enabled command capabilities for real-world operations — environments where reliability isn’t optional. Our work spans defence, security, and other mission-critical domains where systems must earn trust through performance, not promises. At the core of what we build is an open, modular, and interoperable AI command foundation that integrates data from multiple sources — from UAV sensors and edge devices to situational intelligence platforms — and turns it into decision support and operational capability. Rooted in Nordic engineering heritage, we focus on openness, reliability, and systems that earn trust through performance. We work with intent, iterate fast, and build technology that protects what matters most.
Role Description
We are looking for a (Senior) Security Engineer to join our team full-time in Tampere or Helsinki.
In this role, you will be the technical hands-on expert responsible for the software security of our products. You aren't just advising from the sidelines; you are an integral part of the R&D process, designing, architecting, and implementing the security features that make our physical AI resilient. You will translate complex customer requirements into secure code and ensure that our 5G-enabled systems are protected from the ground up.
Day-to-day responsibilities include:
Technical Security Design: Designing and implementing core security features (e.g., encryption, secure boot, identity management) within our embedded and 5G-connected systems.
Hands-on Development: Writing and reviewing code (C/C++, Rust, or Python) to ensure it meets the highest security standards.
Security Architecture: Building and evolving the technical security architecture for our physical AI products, focusing on 3GPP and 5G security standards.
Code Auditing: Conducting technical code reviews and vulnerability assessments to identify and mitigate risks early in the development cycle.
Collaboration: Working side-by-side with R&D teams to integrate security features into the product roadmap and ensuring efficient, secure inference on edge devices.
Qualifications
At least 5-10 years of experience in Security Engineering, with a heavy focus on Embedded Systems or Product R&D.
Strong programming skills in C, C++, or Rust; you must be comfortable reading and writing production-level code.
Deep knowledge of 5G security mechanisms and/or embedded hardware security (e.g., TrustZone, HSMs).
Experience with DevSecOps and automating security testing within CI/CD pipelines.
Ability to interpret complex technical security requirements and implement them in real-world engineering projects.
A "security researcher" mindset – you know how systems are broken and, more importantly, how to build them to stay fixed.
Experience in the telecom or defense sector is a strong advantage.
Why join NestAI
At NestAI, you’ll build meaningful, real-world technology as part of a world-class team of engineers, scientists, and experienced professionals. You’ll work on systems where reliability genuinely matters, contribute to Europe’s security and resilience, and solve problems that demand depth, trust, and craftsmanship. If you want to build with purpose — and with leading experts in the field — you’ve come to the right place.

About NestAI
Physical AI is moving from theory to reality. The systems being built today will shape how societies protect people, operate critical infrastructure, and respond under pressure for decades to come.
At NestAI, close to 100 engineers and scientists work at the intersection of software, hardware, and AI — developing autonomy, sensing, and command capabilities for mission-critical use. This isn’t demo work. It’s real systems, built for real environments.
We build in Europe, with open and interoperable architectures, so that critical capabilities can evolve over time without lock-in — and remain accountable to the societies they serve.
