Cloud Full Stack Developer
Company
NestAI is a European AI lab for defence delivering the adaptive operating system for modern battlefield operations. We develop adaptive intelligence for unmanned and command systems: AI that continuously learns from operational data and adapts to changing conditions.
NestOS is our open, modular and interoperable platform that enables this at scale and keeps capability evolution under sovereign European control. Founded in 2025 by Peter Sarlin, whose previous company Silo AI became Europe's largest AI acquisition, NestAI brings together over 150 engineers and scientists and partners with leading European defence forces and industry.
Role Description
In this position, we have two primary paths depending on your strengths and career interests: Internal Product R&D and Forward Deployed Engineering (FDE).
Internal Product R&D: You will focus on building, scaling, and maintaining the core infrastructure and cloud-based applications that power our long-term product vision.
Forward Deployed Engineering (FDE): Embedded directly in our customer's development environment, FDE squads shorten the path from development to fielded capability, validating product capability where assumptions are tested against operational reality. This path is dynamic and highly impactful, where you will navigate shifting environments, collaborate with external stakeholders, and solve complex engineering challenges where adaptability is key.
Regardless of the path, you will work with modern web technologies such as React, Node.js, and major cloud platforms (GCP, Azure, or AWS) to build scalable, secure, and efficient solutions.
Day-to-day responsibilities include:
Design, development, testing, deployment, and debugging of web applications.
Building and operating backend services, APIs, and databases.
Managing and optimizing cloud environments and production deployments.
DevOps practices: Kubernetes, Docker, Terraform, CI/CD, and observability across cloud and on-prem environments.
Collaborating closely in agile teams to deliver high-quality solutions.
Interfacing directly with key stakeholders to understand requirements, adapt to diverse technical environments, and deploy tailored solutions for FDE roles.
Qualifications
Deep experience (minimum of 5 years or equivalent experience) in software development: Full Stack or specialized domain expertise.
Knowledge of the full web development stack, cloud infrastructure, and DevOps practices.
Strong skills in Linux environments and database management.
Excellent problem-solving abilities and a strong attention to detail.
For the Forward Deployed (FDE) path:
A versatile generalist profile; you enjoy a changing scenery and feel comfortable operating across different technical ecosystems.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to confidently collaborate with external partners and translate business needs into engineering reality.
Pluses: Practical platform engineering, security expertise (OIDC/OAuth2, Vault, compliance), or experience with AI/ML data pipelines.

About NestAI
Physical AI is moving from theory to reality. The systems being built today will shape how societies protect people, operate critical infrastructure, and respond under pressure for decades to come.
At NestAI, close to 200 engineers and scientists work at the intersection of software, hardware, and AI — developing autonomy, sensing, and command capabilities for mission-critical use. This isn’t demo work. It’s real systems, built for real environments.
We build in Europe, with open and interoperable architectures, so that critical capabilities can evolve over time without lock-in — and remain accountable to the societies they serve.
